Shanghai's grain yield is estimated to reach 900 million kilograms, according to a recent municipal meeting of rural revitalization strategies.
The city will ensure stable production and supply of major agricultural products and prevent pest infestation. Construction of 50,000 mu of large-scale production bases for leafy green vegetables as well as five vegetable protection town green production bases will kick off soon to ensure stable market supply. Shanghai will also promote the construction of 17 green field demonstration bases.
In addition, the city has made efforts to attract investment in agriculture. In the first half of this year, 54 agricultural investment projects have been introduced to the city with a total investment of 6.118 billion yuan (US$932 million).
Chongming and Songjiang districts introduced 11 projects of 3.847 billion yuan and 16 projects of 1.513 billion yuan, respectively. Songjiang's Xinbang Town joined hands with Aoyuan Group to build a rural industrial park with a planned investment of about 500 million yuan.
